Mark represents the third generation of the Donaldson family in the motor industry. Upon graduating from University he worked for his father and it was during this period that he realised a passion and intrigue for automobiles of historic interest.
In 2002 Mark joined renowned auction house Christie's in their car department as a Specialist. Initially based in London, in 2005 he accepted a two year secondment posting to their Beverly Hills office in California, USA to act as Specialist in charge of their annual flagship auction on the Monterey Peninsula.
In 2007, Mark returned from the USA where he joined forces with two great friends and former Christie's colleagues to represent the UK branch of a multinational partnership specialising in the sale and sourcing of high value historic motor vehicles.
Mark Donaldson Ltd was incorporated in summer 2010 and please refer to the services page for further details of services offered. With a broad knowledge of the market and a worldwide contact base Mark has experience of vehicles dating from the turn of the 20th century to the present day. From vintage Bentleys to a McLaren F1, Mark has handled an array of multi-million dollar automobiles during his career ensuring a service that represents integrity and discretion with a focus on referred and repeat business.
An avid racer and motorsport fan; Mark has competed in the UK, mainland Europe and the USA predominantly in long distance endurance races at notable circuits such as Silverstone, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, Spa, Vallelunga, Thunderhill, Goodwood and many more. In 2011 appearances on the Tour Auto, Silverstone Classic and at the Nurburgring 24hrs were highlights. In 2012 Mark was fortunate enough to race in Monza and Portimao for the first time and whilst 2013 was relatively quiet on the Motorsport front he is looking forward to a varied 2014. Other hobbies include Rallying, Golf and Enduro motorbiking.
He lives in Surrey with his wife and 2 daughters.
